COSE 2011 Small Business Conference

What's Hot in Tech & What's Not?

Fred Franks, Vice President of IT, offered tech presentation at COSE Small Business Conference

Fred Franks, FIT Technologies Vice President of Information Technology, presented “What’s Hot in Tech and What’s Not” to nearly 90 session attendees during the COSE Annual Small Business Conference at the I-X Center on October 19, 2011.

Fred Franks FIT Technologies Vice President of Information Technology

Based on the premise that small and medium-sized businesses have a competitive advantage over enterprise businesses when it comes to the adoption of consumer technology, Franks described how enterprise technology used to trickle down to smaller businesses. Today, the reverse is true. Small and medium-sized businesses are staying nimble by becoming quick adopters of new technology, making them the trend setters for what’s hot and what’s not.

Attendees heard about the concept of technology consumerization and learned how the hottest technology can boost business performance in three areas: portability, collaboration, and communication. Franks also discussed which technologies can be leveraged to impact their competitive advantage. Franks offered examples of how the latest consumer technologies are transforming businesses and challenged attendees to imagine ways their businesses could be similarly improved.
